“To another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit…”
– 1 Corinthians 12:8
The Word of Knowledge is one of the most eye-opening and faith-building gifts of the Holy Spirit. It’s not book knowledge, academic learning, or even spiritual maturity—it’s a supernatural revelation of information you couldn’t know naturally.
Think of it as a heavenly spotlight—revealing things about someone’s life, heart, or situation to bring healing, truth, or repentance.
Biblical Examples:
- Jesus told the Samaritan woman she’d had five husbands (John 4)—she was stunned, and revival broke out.
- Peter discerned Ananias’ deception without being told (Acts 5).
- Elisha saw in the spirit what Gehazi did in secret (2 Kings 5).
These moments weren’t magic—they were ministry. And God still does this today.
What’s the difference between Word of Wisdom and Word of Knowledge?
- Word of Knowledge = revelation of something past or present
- Word of Wisdom = revelation of what to do or what’s coming next
Together, these gifts empower Spirit-filled believers to speak God’s heart and release His will.
Why the Church Needs This Gift:
- It opens hearts to the Gospel
- It uncovers hidden wounds and invites healing
- It confirms God’s nearness and knowledge of our lives
- It strengthens the faith of the believer and builds the Church
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I thank You for the gift of the Word of Knowledge. I ask You to use me to speak truth, reveal what’s hidden, and point people to Your love and power. I want to hear and obey. In Jesus’ name, amen.
