“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
– 1 Corinthians 12:7
You weren’t saved to sit on the sidelines.
You were saved, filled, and gifted—to serve with power.
In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul lists nine gifts of the Spirit:
- Word of wisdom
- Word of knowledge
- Faith
- Healing
- Miracles
- Prophecy
- Discernment
- Tongues
- Interpretation of tongues

Each gift serves a unique purpose—but all come from the same Holy Spirit and are given “as He wills.” These aren’t reserved for the pulpit—they’re for every believer, including you.
Why do the gifts matter?
Because they help us:
- Speak with wisdom and truth
- Heal the sick and comfort the broken
- Know when something is from God—and when it’s not
- Build up the body of Christ, not just emotionally—but spiritually
1 Corinthians 14:1 tells us to “eagerly desire spiritual gifts.”
Acts 1:8 reminds us that we’ll “receive power” when the Holy Spirit comes upon us.
And friend, that same Spirit lives in you today.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I desire what You have for me. I open my heart to Your gifts—not for recognition, but for Your mission. Empower me to live boldly for Jesus. In His name, amen.
