There comes a moment in every battle when you have to make a choice: Will I believe what fear is telling me, or will I believe what God has said?

Fear and faith are both responses to something we cannot yet see.

Fear looks into tomorrow and expects something bad to happen.

Faith looks into tomorrow and says, “I don’t know exactly what will happen, but I know the One who holds tomorrow.”

That is why Scripture tells us:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

Notice what the Bible says: fear is not what God has given us.

God gives us power.

God gives us love.

God gives us a sound mind.

So when fear begins controlling our thoughts, decisions, and expectations, we have to recognize that there is another choice available to us.

We can choose faith.

Fear Focuses on the Problem. Faith Focuses on God.

Think about David standing before Goliath.

Everyone else saw the giant.

David saw God.

The Israelite soldiers looked at Goliath and thought, “He is too big to defeat.”

David looked at Goliath and essentially said, “You are too small compared to my God.”

David declared:

“The battle is the LORD’S.” — 1 Samuel 17:47

David wasn’t pretending Goliath wasn’t real. He simply refused to believe Goliath was greater than God.

That is biblical faith.

Faith doesn’t deny the existence of the problem. Faith denies the problem the right to become greater than God’s promise.

You may be facing a financial battle.

You may be believing for healing.

You may be praying for your family.

You may be facing uncertainty about your career, marriage, ministry, or future.

Fear will tell you everything that could go wrong.

But faith reminds you of everything God has already said.

Whose Report Will You Believe?

Romans 10:17 tells us:

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

If you continually feed yourself fear, fear will grow.

But when you fill your heart with the Word of God, faith begins to rise.

That means there are times when you need to stop rehearsing the problem and start declaring the promise.

Instead of saying, “I don’t know how I’m going to make it,” declare, “My God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Instead of saying, “I’m afraid of what is going to happen,” declare, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

Instead of saying, “I can’t handle this,” declare, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

Your circumstances do not get the final word.

God does.

Faith Is a Choice

Second Corinthians 5:7 says:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Sometimes what you see will contradict what you’re believing.

Sometimes circumstances will scream louder than the promise.

Sometimes you may even feel afraid.

But experiencing fear and surrendering to fear are two different things.

Courage isn’t pretending there isn’t a battle. Courage is trusting God in the middle of the battle.

So today, ask yourself:

What am I choosing—faith or fear?

Will I allow fear to write the story of my future?

Or will I stand upon God’s Word and believe that the God who brought me through yesterday is already waiting for me in tomorrow?

Today, choose faith.

Choose God’s promises over your circumstances.

Choose prayer over panic.

Choose worship over worry.

Choose the Word over the world.

Choose faith over fear.

Because your God is bigger than whatever is standing in front of you.

Declaration

I declare that I will walk by faith and not by sight. Fear will not control my thoughts, determine my decisions, or dictate my future. God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. I choose to believe God’s Word above my circumstances. I choose His promises above my problems. I choose prayer over panic and worship over worry. My God is greater than every giant standing before me. I will trust Him, follow Him, and walk boldly in faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I come before You today choosing faith over fear.

Lord, expose every place where fear has been influencing my thoughts, decisions, expectations, or actions. I refuse to allow fear to become the voice directing my life.

Holy Spirit, fill me with supernatural boldness. Remind me of the promises of God’s Word when circumstances try to overwhelm me.

When the enemy says I cannot, remind me that through Christ I can.

When fear says there is no way, remind me that You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way.

When circumstances look impossible, remind me that nothing is impossible with You.

Today I place my future, my family, my health, my finances, my calling, my ministry, and every situation I am facing into Your hands.

I choose faith.

I choose trust.

I choose Your Word.

I declare that fear will not have the final word over my life. Jesus does.

I receive Your peace, Your power, Your courage, and Your strength today.

In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!
