Living in Victory with Jesus — Part 3

Throughout this series, we’ve discovered two foundational truths.

First, Jesus has already won the victory.

Second, Christians don’t fight for victory—we fight from the victory Christ has already secured.

Now we come to the final question:

How do we live that victory every day?

Romans 8:37 declares:

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Victory in Jesus isn’t simply something we talk about when we’re facing a crisis. It should transform how we approach every part of life.

Remember Who You Are

Second Corinthians 5:17 says that anyone who is in Christ is a “new creation.”

The enemy loves reminding believers of their past.

God reminds us of our identity.

You may have failed, but failure isn’t your identity.

You may have sinned, but through repentance and faith in Christ, sin doesn’t get the final word.

You may have experienced rejection, disappointment, addiction, brokenness, or tremendous mistakes.

But Jesus Christ has the authority to write a new chapter.

Don’t allow yesterday to define what God wants to do tomorrow.

Walk in the Spirit

Galatians 5:16 tells us:

“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

Notice that Christianity is described as a walk.

Victorious living happens one step at a time.

Every morning we surrender ourselves to God.

Throughout the day, we learn to recognize the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit.

When we’re tempted, we seek His strength.

When we’re confused, we seek His wisdom.

When we’re angry, we ask Him to govern our response.

When we’re afraid, we allow Him to remind us of God’s promises.

The victorious Christian life isn’t accomplished through human determination alone.

We need the Holy Spirit.

Don’t Return to Old Chains

Galatians 5:1 tells believers to stand in the freedom Christ has given us and warns us not to become entangled again in bondage.

Jesus can break a chain, but we must decide not to pick it back up.

Sometimes old habits feel comfortable because they’re familiar.

Sometimes old relationships call us back.

Sometimes old ways of thinking attempt to reestablish themselves.

But familiar bondage is still bondage.

If Christ has brought you out, keep moving forward.

Don’t return to Egypt simply because the journey toward God’s promise becomes difficult.

Greater Is He Who Is in You

First John 4:4 gives us one of Scripture’s great declarations of victory:

“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

The Holy Spirit lives within the believer.

That means whatever we face, we don’t face it alone.

The presence of a battle doesn’t mean we have lost our victory.

Overcomers still experience difficult days.

Overcomers sometimes cry.

Overcomers can become tired.

Overcomers occasionally stumble.

But overcomers refuse to stay down.

Micah 7:8 declares:

“When I fall, I will arise.”

When you fall, arise.

When you fail, repent and keep walking.

When you’re discouraged, worship.

When you’re afraid, return to God’s promises.

When you don’t understand, trust God’s character.

Don’t quit.

Turn Your Victory Into a Testimony

Revelation 12:11 says:

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

What God has brought you through can become encouragement for someone who is currently walking through the same battle.

Your testimony isn’t merely the story of what happened to you.

It’s the story of what Jesus did in the middle of what happened to you.

Tell people.

Tell them how Jesus rescued you.

Tell them how He restored you.

Tell them how He provided.

Tell them how He carried you through the season you thought you wouldn’t survive.

Tell them how the Holy Spirit transformed your life.

Your victory has a purpose.

God wants your life to point people toward Jesus.

Live Like an Overcomer

This is where our entire series ends.

Don’t simply believe in victory.

Live in it.

Walk in the Spirit.

Stand on God’s Word.

Refuse condemnation.

Reject fear.

Protect your freedom.

Get back up when you fall.

Keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep worshiping.

Keep serving.

Keep sharing the Gospel.

And keep your eyes on Jesus.

Revelation 3:21 records Jesus saying:

“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame…”

Jesus overcame.

And because we belong to Jesus, we can live as overcomers.

Not through our strength.

Not through our perfection.

Not through positive thinking.

Through Jesus Christ.

The tomb is empty.

Jesus is alive.

The Holy Spirit lives within us.

And the Church of Jesus Christ should live like we believe it.

DECLARATION

Today I declare that I am an overcomer through Jesus Christ. My past does not define me, my failures do not control me, fear will not rule me, and the enemy will not determine my future. I am a new creation in Christ. I am redeemed, forgiven, restored, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. I will not return to chains Jesus has broken. I will walk in the Spirit, stand upon God’s Word, and live in the freedom Christ purchased for me. When I stumble, I will arise. When opposition comes, I will stand. My life will become a testimony of the goodness, grace, power, and victory of Jesus Christ. I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me, and I choose today to LIVE LIKE AN OVERCOMER!

PRAYER

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, thank You for the victory we have through Your Son.

Thank You that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the grave, defeated death, and broke the authority of darkness over everyone who belongs to Him.

Holy Spirit, fill us afresh today.

Teach us to walk with You every moment of every day.

Where old chains are trying to pull us backward, give us strength to keep moving forward.

Where fear has entered our minds, replace it with faith.

Where condemnation has reminded us of yesterday, remind us who we are in Christ today.

Where temptation is strong, provide supernatural strength and the way of escape.

Where someone has fallen, give them courage to arise.

Where someone is tired from the battle, breathe fresh strength into them.

Where someone is considering quitting, remind them that You are not finished with their story.

Father, turn our battles into testimonies.

Take what the enemy intended for destruction and use it for Your glory.

Let our lives become living evidence that Jesus still saves, Jesus still delivers, Jesus still restores, Jesus still transforms, and Jesus still gives victory.

We surrender ourselves completely to You.

Use our victories to encourage others.

Use our testimonies to lead people to Jesus.

Use our lives to advance Your Kingdom.

We declare that we will not go backward.

We will walk forward in faith.

We will walk in the Spirit.

We will stand on Your Word.

We will live in freedom.

And through Jesus Christ, we will live as overcomers.

In the mighty and victorious name of Jesus Christ,
