This is Part 2 of our three-part The Daily Walk series:
FEAR vs. FAITH
Comment “IT IS WRITTEN!” if you’re choosing God’s Word over fear today.
🙏 Prayer: Father, renew our minds through Your Word. Help us take every fearful thought captive and replace every lie with Your truth. Holy Spirit, fill us afresh and cause supernatural faith to rise within us. We refuse agreement with fear and choose to believe Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Starve Your Fear, Feed Your Faith
Fear vs. Faith — Part 2
The Daily Walk with Pastor Bill Zeltman
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” — Romans 10:17
In Part 1 of our Fear vs. Faith series, we discovered that fear asks, “What if?” while faith responds, “God said!”
But knowing that fear and faith oppose one another isn’t enough.
We need to understand how faith grows.
Romans 10:17 gives us the answer:
Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
Whatever we continually feed becomes stronger.
If we continually feed fearful thoughts, worst-case scenarios, negative voices, and constant worry, fear will become louder.
But when we continually fill ourselves with God’s Word, faith begins to rise.
What Are You Feeding?
We live in an age of information overload.
From the moment we wake up, voices compete for our attention.
News.
Social media.
Opinions.
Predictions.
Problems.
Arguments.
Fear.
This doesn’t mean Christians should ignore what’s happening around us. It means we must be careful not to allow the world to disciple our emotions more than the Word disciples our spirit.
Philippians 4:8 instructs us to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report.
What occupies our minds matters.
Faith Comes by Hearing
Faith must be fed.
Read God’s Word.
Listen to God’s Word.
Speak God’s Word.
Meditate on God’s Word.
Pray God’s Word.
The more familiar we become with God’s voice through Scripture, the easier it becomes to recognize when fear is contradicting Him.
Fear says, “You can’t.”
God’s Word says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Fear says, “You’re alone.”
God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Fear says, “There’s no way.”
Scripture declares, “With God nothing will be impossible.”
Fear has a voice, but so does God’s Word.
Which voice are we allowing to become louder?
Answer Fear With “It Is Written”
When Jesus was tempted in Matthew 4, He repeatedly responded to Satan with three powerful words:
“It is written.”
Jesus answered deception with truth.
We should learn from His example.
Instead of endlessly debating fearful thoughts, bring those thoughts into submission to God’s Word.
Second Corinthians 10:5 tells us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Not every thought deserves to stay.
When a fearful thought enters your mind, ask:
“Does this agree with God’s Word?”
If it doesn’t, replace it with truth.
Remember God’s Faithfulness
Psalm 103 begins:
“Bless the LORD, O my soul… and forget not all His benefits.”
David was reminding himself of God’s faithfulness.
Sometimes your greatest weapon against today’s fear is remembering yesterday’s testimony.
Remember the prayers God answered.
Remember the doors He opened.
Remember the provision that arrived.
Remember the storm you thought would destroy you—but didn’t.
Remember the season when you couldn’t see a way forward, yet somehow God made a way.
If God was faithful then, He is faithful now.
Praise Before the Breakthrough
Paul and Silas demonstrated another powerful principle in Acts 16.
They had been beaten and imprisoned, yet at midnight they began praying and singing praises to God.
Then the earthquake came.
Then the prison doors opened.
Then the chains fell.
But notice the order:
They praised before the breakthrough.
That is faith.
Faith doesn’t require everything to change before worship begins.
Faith says:
“I don’t see the answer yet, but God is faithful.”
“I don’t understand this season, but God is faithful.”
“I don’t know how He’s going to make a way, but God is faithful.”
“I haven’t seen my breakthrough yet, but I will praise Him anyway!”
Change Your Spiritual Diet
For the next seven days, pay close attention to what you’re feeding your mind and spirit.
Before reaching for your phone in the morning, reach for God’s Word.
Before rehearsing everything that could go wrong, remember what God has already done.
When fear speaks, answer it with Scripture.
When worry begins, turn it into prayer.
When circumstances become overwhelming, worship.
And when the enemy says something contrary to God’s promises, boldly declare:
“IT IS WRITTEN!”
Starve the voices that continually produce fear.
Feed the faith that comes through God’s Word.
DECLARATION
I declare that I will feed my faith and starve my fear!
Fear will not control my thoughts, words, decisions, or future.
My mind belongs to Jesus Christ.
I take fearful thoughts captive and bring them into obedience to Christ.
I will read God’s Word.
I will speak God’s Word.
I will meditate upon God’s Word.
I will believe God’s Word.
When fear speaks, I will answer:
“IT IS WRITTEN!”
God is with me.
God is for me.
God will strengthen me.
God will provide for me.
God will guide me.
God will never abandon me.
I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ.
My fear is starving, and my faith is growing!
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
PRAYER
Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, reveal every area where we have been feeding fear instead of faith.
Guard our minds and our hearts. Give us wisdom concerning what we watch, hear, meditate upon, and speak.
Give us a fresh hunger for Your Word.
Holy Spirit, bring Scripture to our remembrance when fear attacks. Renew our minds, strengthen our spirits, and teach us to recognize every thought that contradicts the truth of God.
We break agreement with fear.
We reject the lies of the enemy.
We choose Your Word.
We choose Your promises.
We choose faith.
Let faith arise within us until our confidence in You becomes greater than our fear of the circumstances around us.
In the mighty name of Jesus,
Amen!

And don’t miss Part 3: “Faith Has the Final Word.”
In our final message, we’re going from defending against fear to attacking giants with faith.
David didn’t merely refuse to fear Goliath.
He ran toward him.
Sometimes faith doesn’t just stand its ground.
