One of the greatest motivations for evangelism is also one of the most difficult topics to discuss: the reality of death, judgment, and eternity.
Modern culture often avoids conversations about death. We prefer comfortable distractions and softer language. Yet Scripture continually reminds us that life is brief and eternity is real.
Hebrews 9:27 declares:
“People are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”
These words remind us that every person will one day stand before God.
Jesus Himself spoke frequently about hell, not to frighten people unnecessarily, but because He loved them enough to tell them the truth. In Luke 16, He described a rich man who experienced eternal separation from God. Jesus presented hell as a real place, a place of suffering, and a place with eternal consequences.
This reality should deeply impact how Christians view evangelism.
The gospel is not merely helpful advice for a better life. It is God’s rescue plan for fallen humanity.
Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He willingly endured the punishment we deserved so that we could receive the eternal life we could never earn.
The cross stands as the greatest demonstration of God’s love.
Because Jesus died and rose again, forgiveness is available.
Because Jesus conquered death, salvation is possible.
Because Jesus is alive, hope remains for every person.
As believers, we must resist the temptation to become comfortable with silence. The people around us need to hear the truth about Jesus. They need to know that salvation is available and that eternal life is found in Him alone.
Sharing the gospel is not an act of judgment.
It is an act of love.
It is loving to warn people of danger.
It is loving to point them toward rescue.
It is loving to tell them about the Savior who died in their place.
May God give us hearts that are moved by eternity, filled with compassion, and committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
