The gifts of the Spirit are powerful. Tongues, prophecy, healing, words of knowledge — all are meant to build up the Church and reveal God’s power.

But power without character is empty.

That’s why 1 Corinthians 13 — the love chapter — sits right between chapters 12 and 14, where Paul teaches on spiritual gifts. It’s a divine reminder that the gifts of the Spirit must flow through the fruit of the Spirit.

Paul says, “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1)

Galatians 5:22–23 tells us the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The gifts reveal God’s power. The fruit reveals God’s heart.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit was never meant for one generation alone. In Acts 2:39, Peter declared the promise was for “you, your children, and all who are afar off.”

That includes us today.

It’s time for the Church to walk in both the power of the gifts and the character of the fruit — a Spirit-filled people operating in love.

Declaration

I declare that the gifts of the Spirit will flow in my life through the fruit of the Spirit. I will walk in love, and let God’s power work through me for His glory. I am filled with the Spirit, and I carry both His character and His power.”

Prayer

Father, Thank You for pouring out Your Spirit upon Your people. Thank You for the gifts that reveal Your power and the fruit that reveals Your heart. Lord, let love be the foundation of everything I do. Fill me afresh with Your Spirit, and let Your gifts flow through me to impact the world for Jesus. In Your mighty name I pray, Amen.
