Scripture Focus: Ecclesiastes 12:13–14

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.”

We live in an age overflowing with success, information, and opportunity—yet many people still feel empty.

The book of Ecclesiastes meets us right there. The “Preacher” looks at life and concludes that without God, everything is meaningless. Thirty-five times he repeats that word, “meaningless,” like a drumbeat warning against chasing the wind.

But Ecclesiastes isn’t a hopeless book—it’s an honest one. It shows us what life looks like when we remove God from the center. Wealth, wisdom, work, and pleasure—all lose their sparkle when they’re disconnected from the Source of true joy.

Yet tucked within these sobering reflections are powerful reminders of God’s goodness:

“He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

“When God gives someone wealth and possessions and enables them to enjoy them, this is the gift of God” (Ecclesiastes 5:19).

The message is clear: Life “under the sun” is meaningless, but life “under the Son” is miraculous.

Jesus Christ transforms the mundane into the meaningful.

Where Solomon said, “There’s nothing new under the sun,” the New Covenant declares, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

So let’s live with purpose, reverence, and Spirit-filled joy.

Don’t wait until the end of your days to “remember your Creator.”

Start today. Live each moment not chasing the wind—but walking in the Spirit.

Declaration:

Lord, my life is not meaningless. You created me for purpose and destiny. I will live under the Son—Jesus Christ—and bring glory to You in everything I do.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for revealing truth through Your Word. Deliver us from the vanity of worldly pursuits and fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Teach us to number our days and live every moment with eternal purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
