A Revelation from Psalm 106
Psalm 106 is a sobering chapter. It recounts Israel’s history of rebellion, forgetfulness, and idolatry. They saw miracles — yet doubted. They were delivered — yet complained. They were chosen — yet rebelled.
But Psalm 106 is not ultimately a story about Israel’s failure.
It is a testimony of God’s enduring mercy.
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” (Psalm 106:1 NKJV)
Throughout the chapter we see this powerful word: Nevertheless.
Nevertheless He saved them.
Nevertheless He heard their cry.
Nevertheless He remembered His covenant.
God’s love did not deny their disobedience — but it overcame it.
This Psalm prophetically points us to Jesus Christ. Where we have failed, He succeeded. Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more (Romans 5:20).
His love is not permission to stay in rebellion. It is an invitation to repentance and restoration.
If you have stumbled, return.
If you have wandered, come home.
If you have failed, confess and receive cleansing (1 John 1:9).
His mercy is not exhausted.
His covenant is not broken.
His love is greater.
